Behavioral Learning

The Behavioral Learning Network was created to coordinate and to supervise implementation of a District-wide Positive School Climate Program.

Design and implement a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) within the framework of the Behavioral Learning Network (BLN) that will coordinate the efforts of the school Problem Solving Teams (PSTs) and leverage necessary resources to assist high risk students, increasing access to instruction and reducing barriers which prevent them from experiencing success in school.

The Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) within the Behavioral Learning Network (BLN) contributes to the Huntsville City Schools vision of demonstrating commitment to equity and excellence by coordinating the efforts of the school Problem Solving Teams (PSTs) and leveraging necessary resources to positively affect high risk students, helping ensure that all students graduate with the capacity to compete successfully and contribute responsibly as a citizen in a globally connected society.

These offices participate in the Behavioral Learning Network, led by the Superintendent: Deputy Superintendent, Operations, Behavioral Learning, Strategy and Innovation, Health Services, Directors of Instruction, Counseling, and Student Welfare.

The Behavioral Learning Guides provide HCS students with clearly defined expected behaviors, and consequences for inappropriate student conduct. They also give teachers and principals a framework of progressive supports for correcting inappropriate student behavior while maintaining a strong learning environment.
