Operations
Given the unexpected school closure during this past spring and the possibility of that happening again as we address the issues brought on by COVID-19, Huntsville City Schools has posted “NO TRESSPASSING” signs on all of the District’s campuses. These signs are meant to reinforce the message that unauthorized entry into the District’s facilities is an offense that is chargeable as trespassing – which is especially important during periods of closure for public health.
Unfortunately, the placement of these signs sent the unintended message that the campus grounds themselves are off limits to the public. We have received several inquiries about this. The signs are being moved by technicians from our Maintenance Department to the exterior walls of school buildings. It is our hope that this eliminates the impression that people cannot walk, run, bike, or play on the unsecured open spaces on school property.

The mission of the Huntsville City Schools Operations Directorate is to create and maintain holistically sustainable learning environments in which students, faculty, and staff can efficiently, effectively, and comfortably work together to accomplish shared goals. To this end, the Operations Directorate comprises seven major departments: Construction and renovation, Maintenance, Facilities Services, Property and Asset Management, Security, Safety, and Transportation.
