Weather Decision Process & School Closings

The Superintendent will close schools when weather or other conditions are too hazardous for safe operation. Parents will be notified of emergencies via Parent Notification System. News media will be notified by 5:30 a.m. unless extreme weather conditions occur during the school day. If the decision for an early dismissal is made, the dismissal order will be as follows: elementary and high schools will be dismissed first, followed 30 minutes later by middle schools. When hazardous weather conditions are forecast, parents are responsible for deciding if their student(s) should be allowed to drive to school or if they should make alternative arrangements for their student’s transportation.
